Choosing the address of a pump.fun coin
What people call a coin's CA on Solana is its mint address. It comes from a key made for the launch, so choosing the address means searching for the right key first. Here is how that works and how to do it.
The address is a key
When a coin is created, the creation transaction names a brand-new mint account, and that account's key must sign it. Whatever key signs decides the address. Launch sites usually generate one for you.
A custom address is the same thing with a key you searched for yourself. The coin behaves exactly like any other: same supply rules, same curve, same fees.
Why pump.fun addresses finish in pump
pump.fun searches for its own mint keys in advance so their addresses end in pump. A lower-case four-letter ending is quick to find, which is why every coin there shares it. What sets one coin apart is the start, and that is where your word goes so holders can spot a copy.
Ways to get one
| Route | Suits | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Pokk in the browser | Up to five letters | Free, nothing installed, and the key never leaves the tab. Long words take a long time on a laptop. |
| solana-keygen grind | Terminal users | Free and local, using every CPU core. You will also need launch software that takes a mint key you supply. |
| A paid service | Long words | Faster on big machines, but their computer sees your key before you do. |
Choosing a pattern that finishes
Short words, any capitals and a start between A and H finish soonest. Some averages:
| Address | Capitals | Keys on average | In a browserat 150,000 keys a second |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fun… | Any | 14 thousand | about a second |
| Fun… | Exact | 57 thousand | about a second |
| …pump | Exact, lower case | 11 million | 75 seconds |
| F…pump | Exact | 192 million | 21 minutes |
| Pokk… | Exact | 192 million | 21 minutes |
The browser speed is what one Mac measured; your device may be faster or slower.
Launching with your address
- Find the key. Type a start and end on the address maker and save the key file once it appears.
- Prepare the coin. Practise the name, ticker and story in the launch preview.
- Create it from your machine. pump.fun's website chooses the address itself, so creating with your own mint key needs an SDK script run locally. The create-a-coin guide covers the whole launch.
Coins that picked their start
EmptyCoins whose creators asked to be listed, each read from the chain when this page loads.
Nothing listed yet, and that is by design: keys are made in your browser and never reported back, so Pokk cannot tell which coins used them. A creator who wants a spot asks on X, and the entry is then read live from Solana.
How the board worksGuard the key until the coin exists
Until the coin is created, the file is the only thing standing between your address and someone else's coin: a copy of it would let another person use that address before you. Create the coin soon after the search ends and keep the file as private as a password meanwhile. Once the coin exists, pump.fun's program governs it and the key has no further power. Questions
Does a chosen address change the coin?
No. Supply, authorities, the bonding curve and fees are the same as for any pump.fun coin. Only the public name of the mint is different.
Can it begin with my word and also finish in pump?
Yes, but each extra character multiplies the work by about 58. Pair the pump ending with one or two start letters at most.
Which characters are allowed?
Base58: the digits 1 to 9 and every letter except capital O, capital I and lower-case l. The digit 0 never appears.
Will it stop copycat coins?
Nothing stops someone launching a coin with the same name. A word in your address makes the real one easier to recognise, and harder to imitate in the characters people actually read.
